| Director of Police Operations  | |

| Reporting directly to the Senior Associate Vice President for Public Safety, the Director of Police Operations is responsible for the overall operation of the Drexel University Police Department (DUPD). The Director will provide a visible, service oriented uniformed patrol presence and is responsible for investigative services for criminal and non-criminal incidents within the Drexel University patrol boundary. The Director is also required to be fiscally responsible for the police budget, property and equipment. The Director, in conjunction with the Manager of Accreditation and Training, develops and maintains the CALEA accreditation program. He/she represents the DUPD on university committees, community groups and other meetings/committees as directed by the Senior Associate Vice President. He/she serves as a key member of the Drexel Emergency Response Team (D.E.R.T). Â | |
| 1. Position requires a minimum of a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice or other appropriate field; Masters Degree, graduation from the FBI National Academy, Southern Police Institute, or Northwestern University Center for Public Safety is highly desirable. 2. Progressive experience and responsibility in a police department with at least 3 years at a command level; thorough knowledge of police organizations and leadership skills 3. Experience in leading organizational change and developing community policing initiatives. 4. Excellent communications and writing skills. 5. Computer skills include MS Outlook and MS Word. 6. Applicants must have graduated from a PA. Act 120 Training Academy, possess a Municipal Police Officers Education and Training Certification, Pennsylvania State driver’s license and have the ability to obtain PA Act 235 “Lethal Weapons” certification. 7. Position may require long and/or unusual hours; is responsive to the needs of the department 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A communication device will be provided to allow for around the clock communication. 8. Confidentiality statement. | 1. Directs the operations, staffing and accountability of a highly visible, community oriented police department including the direct supervision of police commanders and supervisors using the “best practices of modern policing”. 2. Directs and controls criminal and non-criminal investigative services. 3. Develops and directs proactive programs to decrease crime, enhance the actual and perceived safety and security of the community and improve the quality of life of the community. 4. Serves as liaison with City, State and Federal law enforcement and emergency response agencies; develops and nurtures professional working relationships and continually explores opportunities to partner with these agencies in the development of programs that will enhance the safety and quality of life of the community. 5. Fosters commitment to diversity within the DUPD, in word and action, by creating and delivering programs and training opportunities for all members of the department and through continuous dialogue with the University and West Philadelphia community. 6. Works collaboratively with the Office of Equality & Diversity and the University Division of Human Resources on police department labor/management issues. 7. Works with the Manager of Accreditation and Training to obtain and maintain accreditation status and ensures the highest level of professionalism and accountability for every member of the University Police Department. 8. Develops, directs and tracks all relevant and required training for every member of the department to meet or exceed professional standards and maintain a high level of effectiveness, efficiency and response. 9. Is responsible for quality assurance, maintaining a high level of professional and ethical conduct within the department, and for the development and continual monitoring of a transparent citizen’s complaint process. 10. Continually reviews and revises departmental goals, policies, procedures and operations and initiates improvements to enhance the performance of the department. 11. Is responsible for the submission of all required City, State and Federal reports. 12. Works collaboratively with University and community stakeholders to identify new programs that will enhance the actual and perceived safety and security of the community and fosters an open relationship with West Philadelphia community groups by attending civic meetings and special events. 13. Acts as spokesperson for the department as directed. 14. Other duties as assigned. Â |

| Assistant Director, Emergency Services  | |

| Drexel University seeks a qualidied candidate to serve as the Assistant Director for Emergency Services within its Public Safety Office.Reporting directly to the Director of Fire and Life Safety, the Assistant Director for Emergency Services is responsible for planning, documentation and implementation of the Drexel University and Drexel College of Medicine emergency management plan. The Assistant Director identifies potential risks, evaluates hazards, prioritizes needs, coordinates corrective action(s) and performs all duties pertaining to emergency preparedness and response in a manner, which promotes team concept and reflects the Drexel mission and philosophy. | 1. Position requires a minimum of a Bachelors degree in Emergency/Disaster Management, Safety, or related field. 2. Minimum of 5 years of progressive work/management experience in Emergency Management, safety or a related field. Professional certifications a plus. 3. Is knowledgeable on the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS). Knowledge of JACHO requirements desirable. 4. Demonstrated ability to manage the operations of an Emergency Operations Center. 5. Strong project management, leadership and problem solving skills. 6. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the testing of emergency response, recovery, and business resumption exercises and drills including but not limited to mass evacuations and shelter-in-place. 7. Excellent communications and writing skills are required as is the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, staff, public officials, civic and community groups. 8. | 1. Develops and communicates policies, procedures, technical reports, and other emergency management materials to various levels of University management and the university community as needed. 2. Ensures that the emergency plan and all supporting documentation are current and communicates updates to all internal and external stakeholders. 3. Oversees the planning, organization, implementation and follow up of emergency preparedness tabletop exercises and actual drills. 4. Develops and delivers training and presentations on emergency preparedness, response, and recovery topics to a wide range of managers and the University community. 5. Coordinates emergency plans with city, state, and federal agencies, community officials and the local emergency planning committee in accordance with regulations of state and federal agencies. 6. Serves as the Drexel Public Safety representative on the University City Emergency Preparedness Steering Team. 7. Manages the integration and collaboration of resources and services between internal and external, public and private agencies during emergencies and disasters. 8. Is a key member of the Drexel Emergency Preparedness Team (DERT) and assists the Director of Fire & Life Safety to coordinate and manage the activities of the team. 9. Ensures that the Drexel Emergency Operation Center (EOC) and backup center meets operational needs and standards. 10. Keeps up to date with all legislation, regulations, standards, procedures, best practices and related emergency management related information. 11.
